Closing Statement
Lindo’s Electrical Services is owned equally by brothers Reginald and George Lindo. Our father is an immigrant from Portugal who came over as a longshoreman. Our mother Emily “Kaala” Anamalia Kaalekahi is 100% Hawaiian. We are lineage descendance of this Moku (Liloa), with ties from Waipio to Kona Hema, Kona Akau.
We were born and raised on the island of Molokai. Grew up on the Hoolehua Hawaiian Homestead where our parents worked in the pineapple plantation fields all their lives. There is where we learn about hard work, living off the land and taking care of the “aina”. We fished, hunted, raise our animals and grew a variety of foods to help sustain our family. Growing up we didn’t have much, but little did I know that we had everything we needed.
Once we were old enough, George and I set out on different course. George went into the Army and 82nd Airborne. After the Army George went into construction and attended University of Hawaii Manoa where he majored in Civil Engineering. After 3 years at the University, trying to balance family, school and work--the schooling was put on hold. Work and family took priority.
I went off to Junior College to study Electricity (funded by the Queen Liliuokalani Children
Center) and eventually in construction as an Electrician. My career as an electrician started in High School and now spans over 40 years.
Our paths crossed in the late 80s as I needed workers and George was available. We have been working together ever since.
As Electricians, we wanted to work on the biggest most extensive electrical projects we could get our hands on…however as we learn the “cost of electric power generation” and its impact on the planet, our vision has changed.
Our planet cannot sustain itself with conventional fossil fuel generation which pollute our earth, negatively impacts our climate and cause health problems to our people. The answer shows up every day high in the sky, our Sun. That along with other natural energy producers like wind, water and other variations is where our focus should be. Here in the islands, there is no excuse for not using what nature is providing.
We look forward to projects like yours that provide “clean” renewable energy and help sustain our Aina now and for future generations.
